Q. Is it true
TBOU started a campaign to get members NOT to pay their dues?
A.
Absolutely not. Take Back Our Union was founded to address the dues check off crisis.
Think back throughout the past two years, and ask yourself if
you've seen TBOU members at your booth and events, and
distributing flyers urging members to pay their dues. Now ask
yourself who stands to benefit most if members are in arrears -
the people holding the books (and controlling the votes), or us?
Q. Is it
true that we will vote in June 2009 for the TWU local union wide
election -- but the ballots will not be counted until December
2009?? Why is that?
A. Yes, this is true. You may recall there was a by-law
vote last year; this notion of holding the ballots for six months
was part of that by-laws vote. Why? Well, according to the current
administration, it was to save money by having the local-wide
election and the election for convention delegates at the same
time. However, this answer from the union makes no sense because
they are sending out ballots in December to any members hired
after June anyway, so there's no evidence that it's a true money
saving venture. Who knows the
real reason.
Q. I'm fed
up with the current leadership and I'm ready to take back my
union! How can I become part of TBOU?
A. You've taken the first step. Now all you have to do is
click on one of the many "Become a member" buttons on this
website, and go from there.
